Jacques Marie Mage: Ayrton Senna

Jacques Marie Mage: Ayrton Senna

Only the most discerning eyewear boutiques are lucky enough to stock Jacques Marie Mage, and we're honoured to be one of the select few in the United Kingdom. Their collaboration with Ayrton Senna was a quick sellout and you can see why...

Not only was the late Ayrton Senna one of the greatest F1 drivers of the 20th century, but he was also one of the best dressed. From his trademark blue Nacional cap to those perfectly washed-out jeans, his outfits off the racetrack were a true masterclass in the fine art of looking very, very cool.

Put simply, if there was a podium for 90s style, he would have been on it, standing alongside JFK Jr and George Constanza with a Moët bottle in his hand.

His unique choice in eyewear was a big part of the appeal—and once he took off that signature yellow-and-green race-helmet he’d often be spotted in a particularly sophisticated pair of pilot frames.

It’s these shades that serve as the inspiration for the Ayrton Senna by JMM: 1992 frames. Made in Japan from 100% beta titanium, these highly-limited frames take cues from Senna’s early 90s eyewear and combine them with that exceptional level of detail the Jacques Marie Mage are renowned for.

Taking their name from the year Senna won his fifth Monaco Grand Prix, every element is, for want of a better term, just right. The shape… those tortoiseshell acetate inserts… the hand-painted yellow temple tips which tip a hat to Senna’s Brazilian heritage.

The 1991 is a bold acetate aviator featuring precious metal arrowhead end-pieces, custom monoblock hinges, and JMM’s signature wirecores with refined hairline detailing.

1992 McLaren racecar sold separately…
