Memorable Moments of 2017

Memorable Moments of 2017

The end of 2017 is, inevitably, almost upon us.

I think you'll agree that a lot has gone on this year but, with things like the snap election, fidget spinners and the mental image of Theresa May frolicking through a field of wheat already a distant memory, it's almost time to move on and look forward to the year ahead.

But, before we do, let's take one last look back Seen's most memorable moments of 2017:

Eye Love MCR Charity Cloth

1. We raised £1400 for the families of those affected by the Manchester Arena attack

Earlier this year Manchester was subjected to a major terrorist attack. The response from the people of Manchester was incredible and we came together to show the true spirit of Manchester and the best of our city. Our own little offering was the Eye Love MCR charity cloth which raised over £1400.

Mark Smith Proper Mag Secret Shopper

2. Proper Mag paid us a secret visit

We were paid a visit by Proper Mag’s Mark Smith who reviewed the store secret shopper style. Menswear mogul Mark had been a fan of contact lenses for over a decade, so we had our work cut out. Read his review here.

Interview Moritz Krueger Mykita

3. We interviewed Moritz Krueger from Mykita

The founder of our favourite German eyewear brand, Mykita gave us a few moments of his time to chat about the history of the brand and what they’ve got planned for the future. Missed it? Catch the full interview here.

St Anns Arcade Renovation

4. Our St Anns Arcade home went through a HUGE renovation

For those of you who are regulars to our Manchester HQ, it won’t have gone unnoticed that the entire building has been going through a massive renovation this year and we’d just like to say how grateful we are that, through it all, our clients have still chosen to walk down and see us in the arcade.

Optical Aviators

5. The 80s came back in a big way

2017 was the year of the eighties eyewear throwback. From big, bold and colourful frames to the return of the single and double bridged optical aviator, the 80s have had an indisputable influence on today’s eyewear offerings. Check out our take on our personal favourite.

Launch of Mr Leight

6. We were invited to the exclusive launch of Mr Leight

Garrett Leight and his father Larry, formerly of Oliver Peoples, are starting a new eyewear brand called Mr Leight - and we were invited along to the exclusive launch event! Mr Leight will be dropping at Seen next year, so watch this space!

New Jacques Marie Mage

7. We brought you some limited edition frames from Jacques Marie Mage

2017 was the year we expanded our offering of JMM. This California based brand are headed for great things and we’re thrilled to go along for the ride as they develop their brand. Check out their latest collection.

Jersey Street Social Club8. We shone the spotlight on some of our amazing customers

The best thing about great eyewear is the people who wear it and we were lucky enough to hang out with long-term Seen fans and barber extraordinaires, Jersey Street Social Club. Read our interview here

That's all folks. Here's to many more memories in 2018.
