Jacques Marie Mage Muhammad Ali

Jacques Marie Mage have form when it comes to eyewear-as-tribute, and their latest limited-edition collection turns its attention to one of the most recognisable figures of the 20th century: Muhammad Ali.

Inspired by two pivotal moments in Ali’s life, the Kinshasa and Louisville frames take their cues from the glasses he wore away from the boxing ring, when he was making headlines with words rather than punches. Kinshasa is a commanding circular silhouette inspired by Ali’s 1968 UCLA press conference, while Louisville takes its cues from the 1967 Federal Court hearing where he refused induction into the US Army.

Designed in Los Angeles and handcrafted in Japan, both frames feature JMM’s meticulous construction and arrive with a collection of considered accessories, including custom cases, an oversized Ali cleaning cloth and a letterpress authenticity card signed by the craftsman who made each pair.
