Cutler and Gross 1385 Square

The ‘Rexangle’ is a new glasses shape for Cutler and Gross; a combined hexagon and rectangle. An unfamiliar shape offering the best of both worlds. The double milling which features prominently in the 1384 is repeated for the 1385. The bold angles give the frame an unstructured and raw flow. Traditional techniques from Italy are transplanted into a new way of design and interpretation. The fit is comfortable and familiar yet juxtaposed against post-modern colours and unfamiliar patterns, much like the Piazza d’Italia, in New Orleans by the famous post-modern architect Charles Moore.
