Jacques Marie Mage Glass Colourway

In 1916 Coca Cola needed a new design for its bottle that would make it standout out from the copy cat brands that had started cropping up. The brand turned to The Root Glass Company of Terre Haute with a brief that was famously tricky: it needed to be recognisable in the dark and when smashed to pieces. Their answer was the contoured bottle we know to this day, easily one of the most famous designs of the 20th century.

While taking more than a few cues from 20th century designs over the years, it's actually the lightly tinted glass of the Coke bottle that's inspired Jacques Marie Mage this time. Making for crystal coloured frames like no other, it's the perfect fit with JMM's roster of mid-century-referencing frames.
