The idea to launch an eyewear line in 1987 came from 2 minds, Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet, both Opticians and both with their own store. They had had enough of all the mainstream glasses that they were selling and decided to launch a collection themselves under the name THEO.

Not a wrong choice so it seems. The first spectacles were not such a major sales success even though they were groundbreaking in style. The first step had been taken and the following collections found it easier to reach the consumer. Today, 17 years later, Theo is sold in 1500 stores and distributed in 50 countries. And they have their own local football team!!!
